Melt with You, New, York

It’s July and my high-top All Stars are carrying me through the humid swelter of the Village. Behind every open door there is a person praying for a breeze and a glimpse into another story I wish I could know. I want to melt into it. Be among the flattened grey gum gobs, the back-of-the-heel bandaids that came loose, the fallen stepped-on blossoms, the stain where someone fell and scraped their knee, the dirt, the grit, the fossils of life.
